At Open House London last weekend I ended the church tour in the Dick Sheppard Chapel downstairs. The last thing I showed our many visitors was the wonderful St John’s Bible, this volume of the Gospels that we read from here every week.

The Twelfth Sunday after Trinity
“If you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your life.”
That ‘if’, is a powerful word. It’s the word that has underscored the covenant that God has with Israel. A covenant based on a relationship of trust and fidelity. But Israel has decided it wants to be ruled by kings.

The Sixth Sunday after Trinity
It’s going to be hard talking about weakness just after England won their World Cup match against Sweden yesterday. But then for those who know, in our home we also support Croatia, so as someone’s got to lose in the semi final they play on Wednesday, I think I can safely stay with the theme. Although with two horses in the race I also can’t lose!

The Third Sunday of Easter
It’s really good to welcome all of our visitors today. When you are a visitor to London one of the things that is a signature of London life are the words ‘Mind the Gap’ on the underground or Tube to remind you to be careful as your train comes to a station and you step onto the platform.
