Coming Up/Ash Wednesday, 6 March. There will be an 8.30am Eucharist, a Choral Eucharist at 1.00pm and Bread for the World at 6.30pm. All these services will include the Imposition of Ashes.

Coming Up/Club Wednesday, 6 March. Following on from the Ash Wednesday Choral Eucharist at 1pm, Club Wednesday, with lunch and talk by Jeff Claxton on bread and bread-making.

Coming Up/Time to Talk, Saturday 9 March, 10.30am. A service of reflection for those affected by suicide, featuring words and music to offer space, solidarity and opportunity to reflect and connect. The service will be followed by a reception with refreshments and an opportunity to link with organisations offering advice and support.

Lent Course 2019 – The Confessions of St Augustine: A chance to reflect upon one of the most influential spiritual autobiographies ever written with so much still relevant for today, in a new translation by Benignus O’Rourke/Beginning Wednesday 13 March. Starting at 6.30pm, in Church, joining with Bread for the World, until 8.55pm. Further dates: Wednesdays in Lent – 13, 20, 27 March, 3, 10, 17 April. Electoral Roll Renewal: Under the Church Representation Rules, we are required to form a new Electoral Roll in 2019 (as part of the 6-year cycle that the rules specify). Everyone who wishes to be included on the new roll, whether they are on the present roll or not, must complete an application form by Sunday 24 March at the latest. Application forms are available from the PCC duty member in the Hall after the 10am service, from the Vergers at other times, from our Church Coordinator Harriet Rabin harriet.rabin@smitf.org /020 7766 1126 or via the St Martin’s website (https://www.stmartin-in-the-fields.org/life-st-martins/electoral-roll-renewal/). Completed forms can be returned to Harriet via post or email. To be on the electoral roll you have to be aged 16 or over, a baptised member of the Church of England or of another church (in communion with the CofE), and be resident in the parish or have worshipped here regularly for the last 6 months. Only those who are on the electoral roll are entitled to vote at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting, which this year takes place on 28 April.

The changing monthly display by the artists’ and craftspeople’s group in the Foyer of the Crypt for February is by Rosalind Beeton. Each month a different member of the group or artists linked to it will show examples of their work, so do look regularly to see the changing display.

Revd Sally Hitchiner to become Associate Vicar for Ministry. Like her predecessor Revd Katherine Hedderly, Sally will have principal responsibility for congregational life, including pastoral care, formation, liturgy, budgeting and safeguarding, and also for communications. She will take up her post on May 8, 2019. Sally writes, ‘I am so looking forward to joining St Martin’s. I have been inspired by your theology, kindness and curiosity for many years and I am thrilled that God is now calling me to journey with you. I am particularly looking forward to getting to know each member of our regular congregations as well as working with the business, the Charity, the Trust, The Connection and the Chinese Community at St Martin’s.’

Coming Up/Confirmation Preparation. Our Confirmation Service 2019 will be on Wednesday 29 May at 6.30pm and will be conducted by the Bishop of London, Sarah Mullally. Could all those who are interested in preparing for confirmation please give your names to or speak to Revd Richard Carter (richard.carter@smitf.org) or one of the clergy team. The dates for classes are 17 and 31 March, 14 April (tbc), 5, 12, 19 and 28 May.

Save the Date: Parish Away Day. This year’s Parish Away Day will be held on Saturday 13 July, for all the parish including C-Club. All are welcome for an inspirational day of reflection and fun to be held at the Focolare Centre in Welwyn Garden City.
