Today/Schools Service, 10.00am. We welcome representatives from two schools founded at St Martin’s in the seventeenth century (i.e. before the present church building) with whom we retain close links even though they are now both based south of the river. Archbishop Tenison’s C of E School, Kennington, was founded in 1685. St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls in Tulse Hill, established in 1699, is one of the oldest schools for girls in Britain. We are proud of these two schools, and our annual Schools’ Service is a way of our retaining understanding of their well-being and reaffirming our commitment to them.
