The New Year brought me a funeral per week, perhaps not unusual for a priest, perhaps not unusual for the time of year. Too much loss can feel overwhelming and leave you feeling winded.

The Ever Open Door?

“In my country, God’s house is always open!” This was said, accompanied by tears, by a woman wanting to come into church to pray, just as the verger was trying to lock the gates of St Martin’s portico. Not many churches stay open ’24/7′ in this country. I’m glad to say our verger was sympathetic to the woman’s request.

Being Visible

I have a unique calendar which tells me, for example, that June 18 is World Juggling Day. This weekend, sandwiched between the International Day of Peace and British Cheese Week, is Bisexual Visibility Day.
